Leading international insurance think tank, The Geneva Association, is looking for a Head of Institutional Relations. The successful candidate will lead the Institutional Relations Department, a key pillar of The Geneva Association’s evolving activities and stronger outreach mandate. S/he will report directly to the Secretary General and Managing Director. The Association’s working language is English and the role is based in Basel with considerable international travel.

Definition of activity portfolio:

Lead and direct the outreach activities of The Geneva Association

  • Manage/oversee the outreach and liaison functions and their key activities around the world
  • Develop positions for outreach and liaison work for The Geneva Association, its member companies and working groups
  • Organise and draft position papers for international institutional interaction and interact with The Geneva Association’s research pillar
  • Lead and develop the key relations with identified target organisations internationally
  • Represent world-leading insurers through The Geneva Association at selected events & meetings

Qualifications of the candidate:

  • At least ten years of institutions-relation experience in insurance/finance and/or having occupied a senior position in the insurance or wider financial services industry (banking, securities, or related organisations) with strategic outreach responsibilities
  • Excellent credentials incl. higher academic education in a relevant field for the function
  • Outstanding track record in organising and running institutional relations
  • Very good organizational, writing, interpersonal and communications skills
  • English mother-tongue or near-perfect knowledge of English, other languages a plus
  • Skilled author of position papers
  • Strong commitment to the insurance industry’s role in the economy & society
  • Readiness to travel internationally: chiefly for liaison purposes but also to attend conferences and meetings on behalf of The Geneva Association and make visits to member companies
