Yandicoogina is a fly in fly out operation located approximately 84km northwest of Newman, in the East Pilbara region of Western Australia. Yandi's total iron ore output has reached 52 million tonne per annum and is set to increase even further. Facilities at the mine's campsite include a gymnasium, indoor cricket pitch, swimming pool, tennis facilities, golf putting green squash courts, wet mess, dry mess and laundry facilities.
The Role
The Yandi Mine Services team is responsible for providing Management and Maintenance solutions for all of the Yandi Mine site's Infrastructure assets.
Reporting to the Superintendent of Yandi Mine Services you will be tasked with providing Engineering Support and Project Management to the Yandi Mine Services Department.
Utilising your engineering skills and a sound understanding in project management, you will develop, implement and manage of a wide range Infrastructure related projects.
Values in quality and timeliness of service provided to stakeholders, will be key indicators to the success of this role.
You will require a strong team and business focus that will include ensuring that all plans are developed in line with statutory regulations and standards, and that they are implemented in line with Rio Tinto's IronSafe Safety Standards.
You will also carry out the following duties:
  • Capture, document and maintain the project management process including detailed planning of all aspects of Infrastructure related projects.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of Capital Projects, including development of Capital Expenditure Applications (CEA's).
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of Yandi Mine site 5 year infrastructure plan.
  • Ensure effective and timely implementation of all infrastructure projects.
  • Provide input into asset optimisation of infrastructure plans.
  • Provide technical support for the mine services team.
  • Provide advisory support for maintenance quality standards.
  • Communicate regularly with key stakeholders developing strong working relationships to facilitate knowledge sharing and best practice approaches.
  • Contribute and assist in preparing and managing budgets to achieve business outcomes.
  • Liaise with RTIO and government departments to ensure that all relevant projects are approved and compliant.
  • Define performance expectations for contractors and coach performance against these standards.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
  • Degree in Civil/Mechanical Engineering (or similar qualification with experience)
  • Exposure to Project Management.
  • Current and valid 'C' class driver's license.
  • High level of Communication skills.
The following will be highly regarded:
  • Experience in a similar role.
  • Experience in LEAN or similar business improvement tools.
  • Previous experience in an Infrastructure related environment.
