Program Manager – Water Resource Management, Mumbai/Delhi

Reporting Unit/Supervisor: Associate Director
Location: Mumbai or Delhi
Travel: International up to 20%; domestic up to 60%

II. POSITION DESCRIPTION:

TechnoServe India is looking for a person to manage a new set of Natural Resource Management (NRM)-water projects in India and abroad. This role will provide programmatic and managerial leadership for a basket of projects to promote integration of climate change adaptation into our ongoing programs. The Program Manager will oversee a small set of growing partnerships in India, and will play a critical role in fundraising and staff recruitment in order to further build the India adaptation program. They will also be instrumental in developing partnerships and strategy for Technoserve’s water harvesting and water use efficiency work in India and Africa.
The position has the flexibility to be located either in Mumbai or Delhi.
This role will be instrumental in the start-up of newly funded projects, and in further developing Technoserve's strategy for its work on NRM-water in India, including:
  • Collaboration with government agencies, academic researchers, and NGOs
  • Project activities to include research, implementation, and outreach/communications
  • Integration of NRM-water into TechnoServe’s activities in the spheres of Livelihood improvement
  • International outreach and collaboration, especially with partners in  Africa

III. REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Master’s degree in agricultural sciences, environmental science, management, or related field
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience of working in rural development, environmental management, international development, or related issues, with significant years of experience in a) the Indian context and b) climate change adaptation.
  • Sound understanding of governance, public policy, social ecosystems, and related issues (e.g. land use, gender, water, and livelihoods)
  • Strategic planning skills, ability to develop a long-term vision and strategies to realize the vision
  • Ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams across skill sets, geographies and functions
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and convening skills
  • Demonstrated track record in research, project management and strategic thinking in the area of climate change adaptation
  • Demonstrated skill of engaging officials at all levels of government and convening diverse sets of stakeholders around climate and development issues
