Vice-Chancellor University of London

One of the UK's oldest, largest and most diverse universities, the University of London is at the vanguard of the growing drive towards greater collaboration in higher education. A unique federation of 18 self-governing colleges and 10 other specialist research institutions, we already collaborate to deliver world-leading services such as the Senate House Libraries, the Careers Group and the International Academy, and we are ideally placed to drive forward the shared service agenda.

The University of London is now seeking a Vice-Chancellor to succeed Professor Geoffrey Crossick when he steps down in July 2012. Visionary and dynamic, the new Vice-Chancellor will articulate a compelling, distinctive strategy for the University of London, ensuring we realise our full potential and capitalise on some of the most exciting opportunities in the new higher education landscape.

The successful candidate will combine substantial academic credibility with clear strategic vision and exceptional leadership skills. Significant personal gravitas will be matched by high levels of political acuity, and a proven ability to operate effectively in complex, multi-stakeholder environments. The role would particularly suit an individual seeking a portfolio career combining the role with other executive and non-executive responsibilities.

The post is for a five year term and the hours are flexible at 60%.
