Role Purpose
To Deploy, Operate, Maintain, Monitor and Optimise the Enterprise Storage Systems infrastructure within Vodafone’s European Strategic Data Centres for a wide range of applications, services and customers, ensuring customer service levels are met or exceeded whilst maintaining acceptable cost efficiencies.
Essence of Role – Key Accountabilities
Impact on the business
- Work within the Storage Operations team to maintain the Enterprise Storage Systems environments which support Vodafone’s key business applications like customer care, billing, e-commerce and SAP
- Interfacing with the Service Delivery teams, to ensure proper setup and implementation of new Storage environments
- Interfacing with the Architecture and Infrastructure Optimisation teams to ensure Operational Readiness and Acceptance of new Infrastructure components and Standards
- Interact with the customer facing unit e.g. the Service Desk for Incident resolution etc.
- Support fulfillment of agreed SLA’s and KPI’s.
- Problem Management and Root Cause Analysis for complex infrastructure issues.
- Provide 24/7 support for business critical applications and services on a rota basis.
Customers, supplier and third parties
- Interact with internal customers from within Vodafone OpCos and across Global functions
- Interact with our preferred external vendors
- Request bug fix and service improvement solutions from our external vendors
Leadership and teamwork
- Work within International cross-functional teams, such as Global Applications to deliver solutions
Innovation and change
- Identify potential service improvements, to improve stability and reduce costs
- Deliver input for business cases and justifications for service improvements
Knowledge and experience
- Experience of working within the telecommunication industry would be desirable
- Hands-on Experience in the area of Enterprise Storage Operations is essential
- Extensive knowledge of Storage Snapshot/Clones, Data Migration, Virtual Provisioning, Disaster Recovery, Performance Analysis and Reporting in the Storage environment.
- Deep knowledge of EMC Symmetrix, Vmax, Clariion, and Celerra systems
- Deep knowledge of HDS USP, VSP, and AMS systems
- Deep knowledge of Cisco MDS switches
- Good knowledge of NetApp, HP EVA, Brocade
- Good knowledge of Solaris, HP-UX, Redhat, AIX, Windows, Citrix, and VMware
- Good knowledge of Server Clustering, HA, Replication, and virtualisation

- Fluent English – written and oral
- Good presentation skills
