The Rio Tinto Iron Ore (RTIO) Asset Management division is responsible for delivering capability, maximising the sustainable business value and managing the opportunities and risks related to the physical assets of Pilbara Iron across its operations of mines, ports, rail and infrastructure in the Pilbara, WA.
The Asset Management division comprises specific teams dedicated to: fixed plant; mobile plant; rail; electrical utilities; hydrocarbon and water utilities; structural integrity; business services and statutory compliance, Inventory Management & Asset Disposal; that service the various divisions of West Pilbara, East Pilbara, Coastal, Rail, Utilities and Accommodation and Town Management. These teams address challenges, identify opportunities, develop strategies, establish best practices, lead capability development and implement programs and / or projects to improve the performance of our assets to realise value to the business.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Due to strong continued growth, our Asset Management division is looking to appoint a Specialist - Materials Management; Process reporting to the Manager, Materials Management. The primary focus of this role is to develop, implement and maintain business inventory and warehouse management process documentation and to conduct site audits to determine compliance to process. In addition, this role is required to directly engage the Business Unit Warehouse operations and Asset Management Inventory Control personnel at all levels and to provide them with logistics and process management support.
The particular areas of accountability include:
  • Review current Inventory and Warehouse practices, measure and make recommendations to improve performance.
  • Develop a robust change management process to implement identified supply chain improvements.
  • Develop and/or maintain a good Asset Management reputation and image through ongoing monitoring and response to business unit perceptions of Asset Management
  • Ensuring that process and procedural documents are developed, implemented and maintained for Inventory and Warehouse operations.
  • Ensure the effective delivery of all agreed services, internal and external to the customer, at the required levels by establishing effective relationships and nurturing an excellent service culture.
  • Effective process management to ensure compliance with KPI's, managing performance and effective communication.
  • Ensures that the highest standard of Safety performance is maintained by ensuring all processes have operational safety plans and environmental control in place.
  • Provide accurate and relevant information to stakeholders about Material Management activities in reports, processes and procedures related to Material Management.
ABOUT YOU
To be successful for this role, you will acquire a good knowledge of Pilbara Iron operational areas such as Mine, Rail and Port Operations etc, with considerable experience in Warehouse Operations/Inventory Control roles or similar within the resource/mining industry. Your exceptional interpersonal skills will ensure communication and influential skills with stakeholders are maintained so that specific deliverables can be achieved.
Other key requirements of the role include:
  • Formal Qualifications in the operations and management of ERP systems (e.g. SAP) in the field of Inventory Management and Warehouse Management.
  • Formal training in Asset management principles
  • Understanding Project Management
  • HSEQ
  • Inspection, Incident Investigation, Auditing
  • Commercial Negotiation & Contract Management
