Singapore Programme Director-Bankers with Vision -Vision Fund

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Bankers with Vision is a pilot programme that supports maximising the resourcing for VisionFund’s microfinance institutions. The programme looks to source highly skilled volunteer supporters, influencers and organisations to give of their time, expertise and funding to the MFIs. VisionFund is seeking a full-time Director to manage the fulfilment of these relationships by matching their potential expertise roles to identified and defined priorities in VisionFund's microfinance institutions, meeting intermediate to long term needs. The focus is on specific Asian and African countries as per VFIs new strategy. Working as part of VisionFund's Key Relationship fundraising team, this role also supports new donor procurement and engagement for the team's major donor programme. To ensure successful operational support and fundraising endeavours, this role will work closely with the specific microfinance institutions and VisionFund's fundraising team to maximise meaningful engagement and fundraising opportunities in support of VisionFund's new strategy.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

      Public engagement (Key Supporters and Key Volunteers, including influencers and organisations) 50%
    • To seek, target and prospect Key Supporters as Volunteers and where appropriate, also Funders of key MFIs.
    • To attract these supporters by truly engaging them in the work of the MFIs in order to win their holistic resourcing for the work of the MFIs and VFI.
    • To develop effective and influential relationships with new and existing Key Volunteer Supporters through face-to-face meetings, written and telephonic communication, and special events.
    • Considerately and deliberately present the needs of the microfinance institutions and assignment opportunities in a compelling manner to supporters.
    • Ensure room for Key Volunteer Supporters to personalise their engagement with the MFIs
    • Segment supporter audience for prospective financial gifts and identify relevant relationships for the major donor programme
    • Implement volunteer engagement strategy through matching of assignments and facilitation of small & larger group meetings, outline and content of quarterly newsletters and development of the new programme website.
    • Communicate effectively with new and existing volunteers and Key Supporters to resource the appropriate level of skill set to fulfill such assignments.
    • Collaborate effectively with a voluntary Advisory Group made up of members from various backgrounds to ensure alignment, accountability and momentum of Bankers with Vision's objectives in support of VisionFund's Key Relationship fundraising strategy.
    • Appropriately document Key Volunteer Supporters data, develop fit for purpose databases, report on the progress of the Programme, and Volunteers
    • Engagement with evidence of impact.
    • When required, travel with Key Supporters and Volunteers on Vision Trips to the field.
    • To carry out ad hoc duties which may be required to ensure VisionFund maintains its effectiveness.

      Microfinance institution 'MFI' engagement 30%
    • Working with the management team of the specific MFIs to identify relevant needs to support capacity building, operational efficiency and technical projects as deemed necessary.
    • Work alongside these MFIs and with the Fundraising Director's overview to developing holistic resourcing opportunities that can be met through identified WV Support Offices Key Relationship Programmes.
    • Be informed of VFIs and MFIs development plans to convert needs into marketing opportunities for new assignments.
    • Ensure ownership of projects between MFIs and Key Volunteer Supporters are clearly defined through Terms of References, Volunteer Agreements and supporting documents.
    • Coordinate and ensure alignment between MFI, Regional VFI and SOs
    • Visits to MFIs as required for efficient facilitation of assignments.

      Strategy, research and reporting 20%
    • Working with the Strategy Director, Regional Operations Director, Compliance Director and Fundraising Director, to operationally conceive, create and implement supporting assignments and fundraising opportunities in support of VFI Strategy.
    • Develop, enhance and maintain reporting templates of collective and country specific assignment history and status.
    • Seek opportunities for funding in addition to assignment related projects in conjunction with developing WV Support Office Key Relationship Programmes
    • Highlight thematic challenges, successes and shared learnings to leadership in support of strategy development and ongoing implementation.
    • Continually create and enhance internal processes to simplify and improve Key Volunteer Supporter experience and MFI engagement ministry.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
      REQUIRED:
    • Min 10 years in financial services industry, or consultancy, management or fundraising and dealing with senior executives. Excellent demonstratable knowledge of the market
    • Strong relationship and general management skills alongside solid verbal and written communication skills. Financially numerate.
    • Must be cross culturally sensitive as will work with associates from every area of the world.
    • Must be able to provide personal service to Key Volunteer Supporters and Principle Contacts in VisionFund's MFIs whilst not losing sight of the big picture
    • Flexibility on hours to contact people within wide time zone differences is required

      PREFERRED:
    • Preferred background in financial services or microfinance with proven knowledge and experience in fundraising (or sales) and consultancy
