PATH's mission is to improve the health of people around the world by advancing technologies, strengthening systems, and encouraging healthy behaviors.

We are anticipating the release of the Health Services Delivery Project, a USAID funded program in Bangladesh. Leadership of the project could fall within our Reproductive Health and/or Mother and Child Health and Nutrition programs. The objective of the USAID Health Services Delivery Project is to support the delivery of an essential service package (ESP) through a network of non-government organizations (NGO) clinics that primarily targets the poor and underserved. This project will incorporate new approaches to promote optimal health behaviors and community participation, and to enhance local ownership of service delivery through institutional strengthening.

In anticipation of the release of this project we are collecting a database of potential candidates for several positions, one of which is a Senior Product Introduction Advisor.

Please note: To be considered you must have current as well as ongoing legal authorization to work in Bangladesh.

The Senior Product Introduction Advisor will work with the government of Bangladesh, participating NGOs, existing commercial entities and USAID to develop and promote a portfolio of appropriate products and the market mechanisms to introduce these products through established channels serving primarily low-income populations. The Advisor will lead the initiative that takes responsibility for commercialization and market introduction activities of new or underutilized technology products contributing to improved maternal, newborn, child health and nutrition outcomes. In addition, the Advisor will provide specialized support in areas such as market research, costing, supply chain and commercialization of products for use at the clinic and community-levels as appropriate.

ANTICIPATED RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish and implement process for assessing product needs; identify new/underused technologies that can best meet the identified needs; identify barriers/opportunities for market introduction and scale; identify market channels and introduction strategy; identify metrics and implement a process of technology evaluation.
  • Develop and conduct market demonstration projects (including costing) to guide scale up as needed.
  • Work with the Government of Bangladesh, NGO clinics and community health workers to rationalize and promote the use of innovative new and adapted products to efficiently meet the health needs of the poor and underserved.
  • Work with government and market leaders to scale up access.
  • Conduct project and performance management to established milestones; report on activities and outputs; and ensure appropriate support and oversight of activities.
  • Coordinate with project stakeholders to identify and advocate for product introduction initiatives by participating in policy dialogue efforts.
  • Navigate official procedures to facilitate product identification, development and adoption.
  • Represent work to key external stakeholders, with particular attention to private sector collaborators, and appropriate government and NGO entities in Bangladesh.
  • Manage relations with potential product introduction partners in Bangladesh.
  • Work with project management and legal teams to develop contractual relationships, and MOUs as required for product introduction and public-private partnership strategies.
  • Supervise, support, mentor and assist the product introduction team members as required in performing their responsibilities and enhance their contributions to the Project.

Required Experience

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Advanced degree (MBA, MPH) and/or MD/MBBS or related advanced degree with experience in health technologies.
  • Minimum of 10 years work experience in policy development, planning, implementation and/or manufacturing, technology marketing and product commercialization that includes consumer health products, public health marketing, and financial analysis; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Possess significant knowledge of the Bangladesh health sector at all levels of the system, including knowledge of health sector reform.
  • Experience with promoting innovation and products to foster improved community-based maternal, newborn, child health and nutrition.
  • Demonstrated experience with commercial markets for health products in Bangladesh who has worked to advance health technology introduction and scale up.
  • Experience working with other experts and host country staff from the public, private, and NGO sectors at both the community and facility levels.
  • Strong relations with relevant departments of the Government of Bangladesh.
  • Experience working with global, regional, and country partners.
  • Strong teamwork and team-building skills.
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills in English and Bengali.
  • Ability to travel frequently throughout the country as required.
  • Legal authorization to work in Bangladesh.
