SENIOR LIBRARIAN LEARNING COMMONS Library Services

The Department of Library Services seeks an innovative, customer-focused and visionary person to establish the Learning Commons unit.

Duties: Provides leadership in planning, and managing learning commons services; formulates, reviews and implements policies and procedures establishes collaborative links with key strategic partners in delivering integrated learner centered services, which address proactively, evolving and emerging needs of students and faculty Promotes efforts to integrate information literacy throughout the curriculum in support of university initiatives including learning and teaching policy and Digital scholarship; develops, manage and analyze budget and annual plan for the Learning Commons.

Requirements: Masters degree in library and information studies or Educational technology / equivalent qualification plus a minimum of five years relevant experience in an academic or research library, three of which must have been at a supervisory level; knowledge and experience of a digital library environment ; strong commitment to team work, teaching experience including information literacy skills. Competences: Demonstrated ability to provide leadership in a dynamic climate of change; experience in a facility with computer networks and databases; proven ability to implement appropriate integration and use of various ICTs, strong computing and excellence in the following skills: interpersonal and communication; organizational and pedagogy for facilitation of student learning; Experience in planning and implementing public services in a collaborative environment.
