Senior Database Administrator

We seek qualified candidates for the position of Senior Database Administrator in the Research Triangle Park, NC area location. To assist in the support, maintenance, and security of multi-platform database environment. Position Responsibilities: Assist in providing strategic directions for continued database support and development. Evaluate and implement database development, monitoring, and performance tools. Implement and monitor backup and recovery procedures, capacity planning, database tuning and development of Data Warehousing and any other database specific technologies deployed at FHI. Support software development projects in database design and data modeling, security implementation, troubleshooting and debugging. Monitor and analyze database usage to maintain optimal performance and respond proactively to anticipate database events. Assist in maintaining Oracle and MS-SQL database environments, platform and provide database administration for FHI databases. Address issues and needs related to database security. Support the IT Software Development Unit and data management activities. Support software development projects in database design and data modeling, implementation of security via roles and profiles create and trouble-shoot database procedures and packages for applications in their entire lifecycle. Experience Intricate/In depth knowledge of SQL 2005/2008 database administration concepts and database design principles. Intricate/In depth knowledge of PL/SQL, Unix, and Windows platforms. Intricate/In depth knowledge and experience in the use and application of appropriate software. Ability to communicate technical information clearly and concisely to non-technical users. May supervise one more staff members. Minimum Requirements: MS/MA/MBA and 5-7 years related work experience; BS/BA and 7-9 years related work experience; AA and 9-11 years related work experience; High School/GED and 11-13 years relevant experience.
