The successful candidate shall perform genetic studies in the field and laboratory on agronomic traits and adaptability of rice using conventional breeding techniques and molecular markers and conduct research studies in both field and laboratory conditions. He/She shall manage and maintain storage of seed of breeding materials.

Major accountabilities/Responsibilities
• Evaluate near isogenic lines (NILs) for flowering and panicle traits in the field
• Manage breeding materials for early-morning flowering and heavy panicles
• Marker-aided selection for elite agronomic traits
• Collect, analyze and interpret data
• Assist in preparation of scientific reports
• Supervise research technicians and contract workers and assistance to scholars, and other researchers
• Perform other tasks indicated by IRS

Qualification requirements
• BS degree in Genetics or Plant Breeding
• One (1) year relevant work experience
• Good knowledge of genetics, plant breeding and field management techniques on molecular biology, statistical analysis and data interpretation
• Computer literate (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
