TechnoServe also undertakes structured programs to identify and support high potential entrepreneurs in various sectors through leadership mentoring networks, formalization support, access to capital and development of sustainable business services such as accounting, finance, marketing and human resource management.



Purpose

Provide interface with Field Controllers, Country Directors and Regional Directors. Position will be the initial and primary point of contact for processing payments, grant administration and treasury needs on behalf of the field. Review the work of the Field Controllers to ensure accuracy, provide internal control and reliability of data entered by the field. Provide grant administration support for headquarters and the field including revenue recognition.

Duties & Responsibilities

System support/help desk for field:

• Act as first point of contact with Field Controllers with system related issues.
• Resolve error messages.
• Provide guidance on accounting issues and process.


Grant/contract accounting and administration:

• Maintain file of all correspondence related to each grant including the original grant agreement and any reports sent to the donor.
• Maintain a tickler file of all pertinent information related to the grant such as report due dates, audit requirements and or cash disbursement request. Notify relevant individuals (CD, RD, Program Manager, etc) in advance of approaching relevant dates.
• Provide monthly summary of all grants, to include total grant amount, spend to date, spend this year, amount remaining, cash received, cash remaining/short and estimated months remaining.
• Prepare monthly revenue recognition entry for each grant/contract.
• Preparation of US Government reports.
• Mapping of donor reports.


Field Review and Analysis:

• Review all cash receipts/credits to deposit accounts of the field and headquarters to ensure that revenue is recognized in accordance with corporate policies and that grants or contract have been created in the system to track expenditures of the funds received.
• Review field bank reconciliations on a monthly basis to ensure all checks have been accounted for and review all debits to bank accounts (statements) to ensure all cash disbursements have been accounted for.
• Reconcile field office due to/from account with headquarters due to/from account. Resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Review field time entry to ensure total hours are correct.
• Check allocation of salary against funding sources.


Other duties:

• Assist/prepare proposal budgets.



Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting, business administration, economics, or other relevant area.
• Minimum of three years experience of which some may be substituted by certification such as CMA, CPA or other related certification.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal cross-cultural skills.
• PC computer skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Overseas experience in Africa, Latin America and/or Asia.
• Ability to speak, read and write at least one of the following languages is a plus: Spanish, Portuguese, French
• Knowledge of Serenic Navigator is a plus.
