RECRUITMENT OFFICER, GOAL UK

Location: London
Reporting to: HR Manager, GOAL Head Office, Dublin



GOAL is an international humanitarian organisation (annual turnover in excess of £60M), dedicated to the alleviation of suffering among the poorest of the poor in the developing world. GOAL is operational in 11 countries and implements a wide range of emergency, rehabilitation and development programmes.

The GOAL UK office has become a crucial element of GOAL’s efforts to recruit staff for our work overseas. The primary function of the post is to attract and recruit high calibre candidates to work for GOAL in the field.



Responsibilities:

1.) Pro-active recruitment:
• Devise a recruitment plan which should be regularly updated and agreed with the HR Manager in Dublin
• Produce a calendar of planned activities which is to be updated on an on-going basis.
• Pro-actively recruit staff through a range of means, including organising recruitment open nights around the UK, liaising with possible secondees, speaking at universities and careers seminars etc.
• Liaise closely with potential sources of recruits including VSO, RedR, MANGO etc.
• Represent GOAL at networks and events including People in Aid, careers fairs etc.
• Liaise with Media to have articles published in the trade press, media etc to attract candidates.
• Maintain contact with returning UK GOALies and keeping them up to date with on-going GOAL activities, and use their support to present to and refer prospective candidates.

2.) Managing candidates:
• Liaise closely with Dublin to maintain clear, open communication regarding prospective candidates and travel to Dublin for Coordination meetings
• Support the Dublin HR team with screening and processing applicants.
• Ensure comprehensive records are maintained for each candidate
• Interview prospective candidates and maintain and update a UK panel of approved candidates for overseas postings

3.) Other:
• Assist with fundraising events when required
• Work with GOAL Dublin, when required, to set up policies and procedures for personnel issues
• Keep abreast of GOAL overseas activities/developments
• Any other tasks delegated.



Requirements:
• At least 3 years’ experience in Recruitment, preferably with an NGO.
• Creative and driven approach to attracting the best candidates for GOAL.
• Strong presentation skills, and the ability to present to groups of up to 100 people.
• Ability to network, and make the best use of all contacts.
• Interest in a role with a lot of autonomy and the ability to manage GOAL’s existing recruitment work and develop new opportunities.
• Recruitment agency experience an advantage
• Ability to accurately interview and assess candidates and place them in the right job.
• Enthusiasm and passion for the humanitarian sector.
