Project Manager for Strengthening of the Cold Chain for the Extended Programme on Immunization

As part of a new project, Montrose is currently seeking to recruit a Project Manager to support the strengthening of vaccine cold chain systems in Equatorial Guinea.

Key responsibilities • Be responsible for the in-country management of the EPI cold chain project • With support from the Cold Chain Technical Advisor, carry out an initial review of the vaccine management system • Provide regular support supervision visits to the five cold chambers located at referral hospitals on the mainland (4) and Bioko Island (1). • With support from the Cold Chain Technical Advisor, carry out training workshops for the cold chain chamber technicians • Review and provide support to the referral hospitals in ensuring vaccines are distributed from the cold chambers to district hospitals and health centres on a timely basis • Support the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare properly budget and plan for the management and maintenance of the cold chambers once the project ends • Liaise closely with Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, WHO and UNICEF and ensure the project’s activities are in line with Ministry’s needs and are closely coordinated with other partners’ activities and initiatives. • Management of the national Deputy Cold Chamber Manager and driver. • Provide weekly update reports to Montrose and prepare monthly reports for the client • Be responsible for in-country financial management of the project and provide weekly and monthly financial reports to Montrose • Ensure the project is fully compliant with Montrose’s and the client’s HSSE and Ethical Conduct policies and procedures

The Cold Chain project office will be based in Evinayong, Centro Sur Province, Equatorial Guinea where Montrose has an existing office.

The Project Manager must be fluent in Spanish and English.

This is a 12 month position, starting in March 2012.

Requirements • Minimum post graduate qualification in public health or supply management or related field • Background in supply chain management of health commodities • Experience in training and support supervision • Some experience in vaccine management and/or immunisation programmes an asset • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience • Relevant experience working in remote environments in developing countries • Excellent communication (written and oral) skills required • Flexibility, adaptability, ability to work independently • Fluency in Spanish and English essential
