Procurement Regional Category Manager LA&C – Bought, Owned and Earned Media

The strategic goals of LA&C Procurement include assuring, creating and protecting value. This is realized via cost savings and overall efficiencies, as well as through driving an increased contribution to Diageo’s growth and innovation goals. To achieve these goals, Procurement utilizes a defined Category Management process. This role is responsible for developing and implementing LA&C strategy within specified categories and establishing performance targets for each of them, managing the interface with Diageo's suppliers. Leads the development of appropriate relationships with key partners and engages and gains buy in from key stakeholders in developing and then implementing category strategy. This role is key in influencing sourcing decisions with key stakeholders within Regional and Cluster Marketing, and across the assigned spectrum. This role reports to the Global Category Director BOE with dotted line to Head of Procurement LA&C.
Key Outputs/Deliverables:
-Develop, agree, and deliver cross-functional category strategy.
-Manage and achieve/exceed the performance targets agreed within strategy.
-Develop, deliver, and champion the Strategic Sourcing Loop for Procurement controlled spend in the designated categories.
-Prioritize and allocate resources (Diageo and partner) to maximize performance and execute functional priorities.
-Enable in-market execution via cost efficiency and process simplification.
-Establish and maintain category forums and correct governance processes and discipline in line with Category Review, BPM, and AOP.
-In conjunction with business owners, ensure effective supplier long term relationships exist that create sustainable value for both parties and meet Corporate Citizenship with Suppliers criteria
-Support Head of Procurement (HoPs) with:
1. Implementing category strategies
2.Functional Category expertise
3. Negotiations were identified unless leading regional ones.
-Build relationships with key regional and in-market stakeholders (aligned with HoPs with touch points are at a cluster level)
-Ensuring all category strategies are CARM compliant
-Manage risks of assigned category through developing Supplier Failure Risk Management plans.
-Negotiate contracts with regional suppliers and ensure compliance with the Statement of Authorities
-Accountable for working with Finance in order to commit to specific cost goals for the organization within each budget year
-Provide regional input into and participate in the Americas Category Reviews.
-Support functional Procurement capability building and improvement of performance within designated categories
-Support procurement organizational model/ways of working, and lead the team through the organizational changes.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Engineering or equivalent. Post-graduate degree a plus. Proficiency in English & Spanish is a must, Portuguese preferred
Solid procurement experience managing marketing communications categories with emphasis in media/and or digital marketing at a Manager/Director level and working in/or servicing an in-market business unit.
Strong commercial acumen, understanding of the business and judgment.
Proven experience in key procurement skills including, negotiations (Complex negotiations), analysis, forecasting and benchmarking etc.
Must demonstrate knowledge and application of current world-class procurement techniques.
Strong project management skills
Strong communication and influencing skills and personal impact to gain credibility quickly with senior stakeholders
Proven ability to build effective Supplier relationships and operate and successfully managing variety of senior stakeholders across a region, complex matrix structure
Proven strategic capability and ability to drive the strategy in a pragmatic way
Strong leadership, coaching and inter-personal skills.
Travel required and estimated at 40%.
