Principal Category Manager – Agencies

As a key member of the Vodafone Procurement Company Services team, you will define, own and deliver against a global category strategy covering Vodafone’s global marketing spend with above and below the line agencies. You will provide strong commercial leadership and support to your peer group (virtual team) within the Group Operating Companies in the management of Vodafone’s global spend on these activities. A key role will be to build a high level of engagement with the marketing community and manage agency relationships at a global level. Spend exceeds €250m/pa on a worldwide basis. The focus will be on increased value add for Vodafone from procurement improvement initiatives addressing both demand side and supply side opportunities. You will ensure the effective use of supplier capability & performance measurement tools in driving improvement against agreed performance/cost improvement targets. You will facilitate best practice exchanges between members of your peer group in the Operating Companies and will develop similar networks externally.

Customers, supplier and third parties
· Manage relationships with category stakeholders;
· Manage Vodafone suppliers and optimise supplier performance;
· Understanding and providing insight on supplier road map;
· Identify & evaluate potential future suppliers.
Leadership and teamwork
Lead a virtual supply chain team in the procurement of marketing agency services in the ATL Creative & BTL sector. Provide commercial leadership to the marketing community and work as a core team member within the marketing function.
Actively engage with external organisations and groups, both formally and informally, to ensure that we are influencing developments around new commercial models, performance measurement tools and enhancing the image of Vodafone Global Marketing and Procurement capability within the category sector.

· Optimum supplier/agency landscape (capability/geography/commercial etc)
· Appropriate contractual cover across the Group utilising common, best practice commercial principles
· Greater brand consistency/tone of voice across services in scope
· Improved quality of output for services and materials within scope of Category Strategies
· Sustainable high standards of Procurement capability across the Group in areas of responsibility
Knowledge and experience
· Accountable for setting and leading delivery of 1-3 year strategy to optimise total cost of ownership for Vodafone
· Accountable for making recommendations on category strategy, vendor selection and any commercial trade-offs.
· Aggregation of demand to leverage Vodafone’s global scale and scope.
· Accountable for commercial delivery related to the category in line with the agreed Procurement Models.
Communication
· Leads negotiations with Vodafone suppliers;
· Communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders;

Technical / Professional Expertise
Essential
§ Relevant marketing procurement experience
§ Significant procurement experience in a blue chip environment, experience in large international marketing procurement environment
§ Experienced global & local contract and commercial negotiator
§ CIPS qualified or MBA, or equivalent marketing procurement experience
§ Experienced in strategic sourcing/Category Management
§ Well established external network
§ Customer focus – senior stakeholder management
