POSTDOCTORAL SCIENTIST – MICROALGAE – SECONDEE IN CELLECTIS

Total Gas and Power (TGP), one of the four branches of TOTAL, a major international energy company, is dedicated to the development of renewable energies and sustainable chemicals. TGP pursues differentiation through technology as the first step towards building competitive integrated industrial operations in solar power, white biotechnology, or clean coal.
TGP Biotechnology R&D Department leverages an original networked innovation model in order to design, develop, and assemble technologies that could make a real difference in the future.
TGP Biotechnology R&D Department is starting with CELLECTIS, the French Genome engineering specialist, a new R&D collaboration for exploratory research into microalgae-based substitutes for oil products.

In this context, TGP Biotechnology R&D Department is currently looking for a "Postdoctoral Scientist" to work on cutting edge science for microalgae. This individual will be seconded in the lab of our partner CELLECTIS, in Paris, as a member of a joint research team. He will start and participate to the first phase of this bilateral research collaboration. This first one-year phase may be followed by a second phase lasting two to three years.
This position is a very good opportunity to join industrial biotechnology and to work in both environments: large industrial company and biotechnology company.

This contract will be a one-year term appointment with the possibility of renewal contingent upon satisfactory performance and continued program.

Responsabilities include:

• Design, plan, conduct, analyze and report various experiments. Take initiatives in conceptualization of new strategies and methods in research.
- Develop a part of the disruptive tools and genome engineering methods on microalgae species planned during the first phase of the research collaboration.
- Your research activities could potentially move to trait engineering (specific changes to the metabolism and species).

• Keep up-to-date with relevant scientific and patent literature.

• Help other team members in solving problems and achieving team goals.

• Participate to the conceptualization of the potential second phase of the research collaboration.

Required skills

Education
Ph.D in Metabolic Engineering, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology or related areas.

Excellent publications record or equivalent set of achievements in the industry

Fluent in English. French would be appreciated but is not mandatory.
