Introduction

The U.S. Embassy in Pretoria is seeking individuals for the position of Maintenance Supervisor in the Facility Maintenance Office (FAC).

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications Required: NOTE: ALL APPLICANTS MUST ADDRESS EACH SELECTION CRITERION DETAILED BELOW WITH SPECIFIC AND COMPREHENSIVE INFORMATION SUPPORTING EACH ITEM.

Items 1-7 are ALL REQUIRED
1. Completion of secondary school standard 12 or equivalent. Completion of 3 year apprenticeship or certificate of training leading to a journeyman license in one of the building trades.2. Minimum of ten years progressively responsible experience working in the maintenance field with a minimum of two years supervisory experience.3. English level IV (fluency) and host country language level III - reading/writing/speaking. (This will be tested).4. Must have basic knowledge of all building trades and thorough knowledge of local laws and regulations pertaining to the building and maintenance trades.5. Must have the ability to plan and schedule work for a multi skilled crew.6. Must have the ability to read blueprints related to the managed buildings.7. Must be proficient in the use of all aspects of Microsoft Office Suite 2007. (This will be tested).

Job Specification

Basic Function of Position: The incumbent plans, assigns and directs work of a subordinate maintenance workforce comprised of a combination of journeymen skilled trades engaged in maintenance and repairs and preventive maintenance and small projects at the chancery office building, CDC office building and the USAID office building. At times the incumbent may supervise up to 25 contractor employees. Reports directly to the Facility Manager.
