Logistician - Emergency Response Unit (ERU) British Red Cross

Overview
The International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies has approximately 20 Emergency Response Units (ERUs) positioned around the world, which can be called upon during international humanitarian emergencies. ERUs are self-contained teams of specialists with technical equipment who can be rapidly operational on the ground. The British Red Cross is responsible for the deployment of logistics ERUs teams for up to 4 months following an emergency. Each team consists of four specialists that can be deployed in an emergency for a period of one month.

We are currently looking for experienced logisticians with international experience for our ERU roster, who are willing to travel at short notice (24 - 48 hours) to relief operations anywhere in the world. We are particularly interested in increasing our number of air operations specialists. Roster members are required to be available to be ‘on call’ for deployment for at least 1 month per year.

Candidates who are already in employment but who have their manager's agreement to be released at short notice are welcome to apply. You must either be a British national or have permanent residency in the UK. Applications from British nationals outside of the UK will be considered, provided they are based within reasonable travelling time of UK Office in London (maximum 6 hours).

For this role, you must
- be available for a minimum of 1 month on call period per year *
- be within a maximum of 6 hours travel time from London when on call
- be available for a deployment of 1 month at 24 – 48 hours notice
- be willing and available to attend specialist mandatory training.
