GEN II Engineering and Technology Training Ltd provide training and education in engineering and technology to a range of employers in West Cumbria. The scope of training provision includes engineering apprenticeships, NVQ’s, further education and higher education programmes, including Foundation Degrees and BEng Honours programmes.

GEN II places particular emphasis on the provision of high-quality, employer-responsive training at all academic levels, and was recently assessed as Grade 1 in a recent OFSTED inspection. The company is expanding its range of training programmes, especially in higher education, and has a particular focus on nuclear-related and sustainable energy technologies.

GEN II is seeking to appoint a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering. The position would suit a highly-motivated individual with a keen interest in the development and delivery of innovative and effective training programmes with a strong vocational element. The successful candidate would be expected to play a full part in the development of GEN II’s higher education programmes, including lecturing, project supervision and curriculum development, engaging with industry representatives as required.

Duties: Lecturing and curriculum development in mechanical engineering, including solid mechanics, dynamics, thermo-fluid mechanics, energy and electro-mechanical principles, project management and engineering mathematics. Teaching duties will extend to BEng Hons level.

Qualifications: Essential: A minimum of BEng Hons at Class 2.1 or above in a relevant engineering or science discipline. Desirable: A postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline; CertEd or equivalent.

Experience: Desirable: Experience in the application of mechanical engineering in an industrial or academic environment; knowledge of the civil nuclear industry.
