Our client is a biopharmaceutical company (Flemish Brabant). They are looking for an IP/a Patent counsel.

The candidate (m/f) will be involved in a variety of IP-related matters. You will prepare and file the company's patent applications (world-wide), including patentability analysis and you will follow-up the prosecution of the company's patent applications and in-licensed patent applications (world-wide). The role will involve freedom-to-operate analyses, the post-grant defence of the company's patent applications, challenging third party patents, including opposition and re-examination, and the IP-analysis of potential new therapeutic targets. A strong background in IP due diligence and the answering of various IP-related questions in the realm of license agreements, regulations and investors and analysts, is required. Experience in all the afore-mentioned activities is a must.

You have minimum 7-10 years of overall patent experience covering most responsibilities. You have a background in Law/IP and you hold a master in Science. An experience in active biotech patent prosecution is required. You are fluent in English, but any other language is an asset. You have a good command of the standard MS-Office programs, EPO Online Filing software, PatentIn software. You have good analytical, interpersonal, project management and leadership skills. On top of that you are an excellent communicator.
