As a result of our recent acquisition of the exciting Jabal Sayid Copper Project in Saudi Arabia, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Instrument technician.

Bariq is progressing towards full production at the Jabal Sayid Copper Project in Saudi Arabia. This is a project that contains 1.2 billion pounds of copper reserves and is expected to produce up to 300 million pounds of copper annually over its first five years. It is a well-resourced operation with a modern fleet and first-rate equipment.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Instrument Technician is responsible for assisting the Electrical Superintendent in the supervision and the transfer of knowledge related to the establishment of preventative and responsive instrumentation and process control systems maintenance. The role will also manage the development within the process area and across the site to ensure maximum operational performance is achieved in a safe and cost effective manner while ensuring compliance with relevant procedures, polices, legal requirements and consent conditions.
The position has the following accountabilities and functions:
· Provide supervisory and organisational support to the Electrical Maintenance Superintendent, and act in the Electrical Maintenance Superintendent role as required
· Provide the support and direction for the day to day instrumentation and process control systems maintenance of the Processing plant and other areas
· Manage modification and upgrade of existing plant and equipment through cooperation with electrical engineers and assisting with instrumentation and process control systems design and maintenance
· Review of maintenance tasks and procedures including JSA’s and SOP’s
· Plan, schedule and monitor work of support personnel to assist immediate supervisor
· Assist in preparation of project cost and work-time estimates
· Provide technical assistance and resolution when electrical or engineering problems or breakdowns are encountered
In this leadership role there is also a strong focus on developing continuous improvement initiatives, and as a senior expatriate onsite, you will be responsible for coaching, guiding and leading a team of national and expatriate employees.
ESSENTIAL POSITION CRITERA
As a minimum to be successful in this role you will possess the following qualifications, experience and expertise:
· Possess an Instrument trade or A Class Electrical License
· 10 years post trade instrumentation and process control maintenance experience with at least 5 years of which will have been in a senior or supervisory role in a fixed plant ore processing facility
· Exceptional fault finding, breakdown repair and maintenance skills on fixed plant instrument and process control systems
· Extensive experience with the calibration and maintenance of the full range of instrumentation as used within the mining industry
· Experience with PLCs, Process Control Systems and Networks (preferably Siemens PCS7, WinCC)
· Reliability Centred Maintenance System experience
· The ability, patience and willingness to communicate, interact and train local nationals to the highest level possible
· Sound working knowledge of a recognized CMMS (preferably Pronto or MIMS)
· Good communication skills in the English language
· Must be familiar with safe working practices
· Must be computer literate and competent in MS Word and Excel
