IAVI’s European Programme conducts Resource Mobilisation, Advocacy and Communications activities for the organisation in the European region. Run from the office in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, a team of 12 staff manage national and Europe-wide programmes across 10 countries and at the EU. The programme is supported by consultants and civil society organisations and targets a broad spectrum of IAVI’s stakeholders including donors, political and scientific community, civil society, and media.

Position Summary The Resource Mobilisation Specialist will report to the Director of Resource Mobilisation, Europe and support the implementation of the European resource mobilisation strategy. The activities of this position include timely, efficient and structured management of the relationship with IAVI’s key European donors and prospects to ensure continued commitment to IAVI’s mission. Specifically, the Resource Mobilisation Specialist will be responsible for day-to-day stewardship with an assigned portfolio of existing IAVI donors and will be the primary contact in terms of grant management and reporting. The Resource Mobilisation Specialist will be a key member of a number of country teams, advising and leading on resource mobilisation efforts in those countries (in particular identifying and coordinating new funding opportunities and coordinating country-specific information management); as well as contributing to resource mobilisation strategy development at the global level.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks  Coordinate with IAVI staff worldwide to manage existing European donor contracts and ensure that IAVI meets critical donor deadlines in terms of reporting and other contractual and compliance requirements.  Responsible for proactively coordinating with IAVI’s New York headquarters to ensure timely delivery of progress/final reports as well as proactively leading in negotiations with assigned donors on contract amendments, budget allocations and programme deliverables.  Manage donor expectations and communicate with donors regularly to keep them informed of IAVI’s achievements and needs, in particular as this relates to the use and impact of donor contributions.  Organise and liaise internally with key IAVI staff, and externally with donors and others, to schedule donor-related events and country visits, working in close collaboration with relevant IAVI staff in Advocacy and Communications.  Coordinate and manage information relevant to assigned donor portfolio – including relevant databases, tracking systems and files in addition to maintaining up-to-date intelligence on funding priorities, strategies and other relevant country information.  Coordinate the preparation and submission of timely, comprehensive, and accurate proposals, concept notes and other documents for European donors.
 Provide input into overall resource mobilisation strategy in Europe (and globally) and ensure cross-departmental communication to identify and develop opportunities to further IAVI’s mission.  Manage and develop reports, briefings, donor profiles, presentations and other materials for assigned donor portfolio and further resource mobilisation activities.

Required Qualifications, Experience and Skills  Undergraduate degree in relevant field essential (e.g. public health, international development, HIV/AIDS, reproductive health etc). Postgraduate/Masters’ degree preferred.  Minimum 5 years of fundraising or related resource mobilisation experience with public and/or private sectors – including proven experience in grant management and in preparing successful proposals and funding bids. Proven experience in accessing significant funding (>€1 million) from public sector funding sources would also be an asset.  Experience working internationally in HIV/AIDS, global health or international development in an NGO or government agency would be an advantage.  Confident and organised self-starter with a strong eye for detail who can take initiative and is able to respond rapidly and effectively to challenging deadlines and new situations and opportunities.  Excellent interpersonal and diplomatic skills with proven ability to develop strong relationships and work collaboratively in teams with others from a range of disciplines and cultures in a fast-paced environment.  Experience with financial and budget procedures, as well as familiarity in working with financial tracking and information management systems.  Capable of understanding complex scientific information and translating that information into clear communications. Background or affinity with the scientific research field or global health considered an asset,  Fluent in English with excellent written and oral presentation skills. Fluency in another key European language would be a strong advantage.  Computer literate with good working knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).

Working Conditions • The post is full time, and will be based in Amsterdam; some travel mainly in Europe will be required.

Salary indication € 40.000 – € 50.000 based on full-time employment. Final salary depending on experience and match of candidate’s profile to the job profile. IAVI offers participation in a pension plan and provides all the legal insurance for all her employees. Training and education are encouraged and supported.
