Horticulturist
Salary: R170 676 - R221 544 per annum (plus benefits) (Ref. PEDP0290)

Minimum requirements: • National Diploma in Horticulture or NQF 5 equivalent • Communication and supervisory skills • Computer literacy • Valid Code B driver’s licence • Relevant experience.

Core responsibilities: • Draft horticultural task programmes to ensure co-ordinated actions • Assign tasks and duties to staff members in order to achieve objectives in a systematic way • Motivate staff to reach council objectives and an acceptable level of performance • Establish communication channels between management and subordinates • Manage fleet and equipment to ensure that resources are maintained safely and adequately so that the duties of the division can be performed • Manage the administration of the section • Manage the budget allocated to the section • Manage the nursery to ensure that it operates effectively and that suitable suppliers of plants are available when required.
