CARE International UK (CIUK) is recruiting a Governance & Accountability Advisor. Located within the Governance Team, s/he will be responsible for providing technical support to CARE Country Offices implementing accountability processes. The post-holder will support the quality and impact of CIUK's governance portfolio by providing technical advice on project implementation, design and M&E. The post-holder will also provide support to CIUK's Humanitarian Team accountability work (20%). S/he will identify opportunities for cross learning between broader governance work on accountability between citizens and state/power holders and that of NGOs to their target groups and across CARE's different programming areas. S/he will ensure that learning and evidence is adequately captured and disseminated to interested internal and external parties. S/he will contribute to the development and roll out of CARE International institutional mechanisms for promoting accountability.

The successful candidate will have strong experience of working with accountability systems that promote beneficiary participation, as well as supporting the development or management of participatory governance or social accountability activities. The candidate will have a good understanding of the current debates and key issues around accountability of NGOs and CSOs as well as social accountability and participatory governance. Knowledge of beneficiary feedback systems in Humanitarian sector would be an advantage. The candidate will hold a degree in a relevant subject, preferably to postgraduate level, or relevant field experience. The post-holder will have strong project and budget management skills (including M+E) and will have experience of liaising with donors. Proven team working and high quality writing and communication skills are essential. Fluency in either French or Spanish is desirable.
