Gender equity is a global problem. But in the developing world the divide is not only more pronounced, the effects are more drastic. Gender inequality keeps people in poverty and results in needless suffering. It's something Oxfam is working to change. And it's something you can change with us.

The role

Based in Asia, Oxfam's new Gender Equality Knowledge Network (GEKN) is a team dedicated to defining, developing and delivering strategy and learning that will put gender firmly at the heart of everything we do. Providing expert advice on gender issues within Oxfam and externally, it's an exciting, innovative initiative. It's also a practical role that will require you to focus equally on enabling learning across the region through knowledge sharing and mentoring others. And developing new innovative learning tools and materialsthatsupport learning across our regional programmes and beyond, giving gender issues the prominence they deserve. You'll also be involved in advocacy work, actively support strategic planning and take every opportunity to further the GEKN's objectives. In short, you'll be instrumental in developing the knowledge of our staff and the content of our programmes in this key area.

Who we're looking for

To make the most of this new role, you'll need an in-depth, up-to-the-minute knowledge of gender and development, with the expertise to apply this practically. This is something you'll have gained in multiple countries and we'll expect you to be confident applying your global understanding in a regional context. Experienced in gender mainstreaming and humanitarian programme strategies, you'll have expert analytical and planning skills plus a well-developed ability to articulate ideas. You'll also have an eye for innovation and a talent for building institutional relationships. More than that, you'll be adept at building capacity and mentoring programme staff - and you'll be happy to travel frequently throughout the region to do it.

This is a national hired post. We will not be able to obtain visa and work-permit for a non-Thai national.
