Position Overview:
Operating on a 16 days on, 12 days off roster commuting from Cairns you will work as part of a highly trained, multicultural team on this exciting international project. PJV is based in the Highlands of Enga Province in Papua New Guinea and offers a unique and challenging work environment. At an elevation in excess of 2100 meters the Porgera Valley has a year round temperate climate with an annual rainfall of approximately 3.5 meters. The 2500 strong workforce is extremely diverse both culturally and in regards to education, skill and experience.

The opportunity exists for you to relocate to Cairns and enjoy a relaxed lifestyle in a modern and dynamic city offering excellent educational facilities up to university level. Alternatively and subject to conditions, the company will subsidise on-travel airfares paid to commute to and from Cairns for each work roster.

Foreman – Shovel & Drill Pad
The position
Reporting to the Superintendent Surface Mobile, you will be responsible for the immediate supervision of the Shovel & Drill Pad via Supervisors ensuring machine availability of RH200/RH120 shovel fleet and DMLSP drill fleet.

This role will also be responsible in maintaining a safe & efficient work environment, focused on availability by mentoring the National Tradesman in the correct procedures to achieve agreed outcomes and continually improve.

The person
You must have recognised trade certification in Mechanical Trade or related discipline, with several years experience in a relative technical area and supervision capacity , with well developed communication skills and the ability to liaise at all levels. You will also responsible to oversee the provision of training and coaching of National employees as part of the company’s Training and Localisation Plan.

This challenging role requires you to engage with all people associated with the PJV Operations and to understand, learn from and share cultural differences. It is essential that you have the capability and desire to transfer skills and knowledge to a national workforce.
