Cardiff

C. up to £60,000

Job Description-

RenewableUK is the leading renewable energy trade organisation in the UK. Established in 1978 we now represent over 700 corporate members, mainly in the wind and marine energy industries. In 2006 we established RenewableUK Cymru to help promote this important sector contributing new jobs and more than £158 million each year to the Welsh economy.

We are primarily a lobbying organisation, promoting the deployment of wind, wave and tidal power to government, industry, the media and the public. We also act as a central point of information for our membership and present a full annual programme of conferences, exhibitions and other networking opportunities. We commission research to provide market based evidence to support our policy positioning and to supplement our responses to government consultations on behalf of our members, and generally act as the principal forum for the UK wind, wave and tidal sectors.

The Role-

Following tremendous growth in the sector and the increasingly vigourous debate surrounding renewable energy, RenewableUK is creating the post of Director of RenewableUK Cymru to help meet the challenges facing the industry in Wales head on.

As Director you will provide leadership, strategic direction and be the external face of RenewableUK Cymru. Your primary role will be to deliver an integrated strategy and coordinated approach to the policy development, lobbying and engagement activities of RenewableUK Cymru. In addition you will be the chief media and political spokesperson and have regular contact with the key senior stakeholders.

With a thorough knowledge of Welsh Affairs and a proven track record in strategic communications and/or policy development at a senior level, you will be confident addressing the media and meeting with senior politicians. With people, project and financial management skills, you will be commercially and politically astute and ideally you will be an effective communicator in Welsh.
