Position Description

The Director of Accountability Operations is responsible for directing the implementation of the

FLA’s due diligence activities including the innovated SCI factory monitoring and assessments activities and serving as a member of the FLA’s senior management team.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Direct the delivery of the FLA accountability program, which includes the application of a variety of assessment tools.

• Manage the FLA staff responsible for delivering the accountability program.

• Contribute to the development of new assessment tools and methodologies to improve conditions at workplaces.

• Communicate regularly with stakeholders regarding the implementation of the FLA program, consistent with the FLA charter and adopted policies and procedures.

• Represent the FLA at professional gatherings and meetings.

Qualifications

• At least fifteen years experience in labor standards; broad knowledge of the labor rights field.

• At least ten years experience managing diverse teams.

• Ability to coach and train staff.

• Excellent analytical and organizational skills; proven judgment and discretion.

• Excellent oral and written English skills.

• Strong language skills in one or more major languages spoken in manufacturing countries is a plus (for example, China, Vietnam).

• Ability to plan and deliver products such as reports, analyses, assessments and evaluations in a timely basis.

• Cross-cultural communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with senior-level business and compliance staff are essential.

This position is located in Washington, D. C. and requires moderate domestic and international travel (15-20%).

Reimbursement for relocation expenses may be available.
