We are looking for a committed communications expert with a passion for environment to work in our Communications Unit and in close cooperation with the EU Policy Officers.

The work consists of:

  • Drafting, editing and delivering press releases for national and international media;
  • Proofreading and editing documents written by non-native speakers;
  • Coordinating publications: layout, contact with printers, and distribution (including supervision of outsourced work). This includes EEB’s quarterly newsletter, ‘Metamorphosis’;
  • Maintaining good relations with press contacts in and beyond Brussels and updating the media database;
  • Occasionally, organising press conferences and inviting media to EEB events;
  • Monitoring press coverage;
  • Compiling and editing EEB’s activity reports;
  • Updating the web site;
  • Advising the Policy Officers on publicity and outreach opportunities;
  • Developing ideas on how to improve EEB’s visibility at national level;
  • Contributing to further develop EEB’s communication strategy.

Qualities and experiences:

  • High level of written and spoken English (native speaker or equivalent); knowledge of French desirable, knowledge of other European languages a potential asset;
  • Proven writing and editorial skills;
  • Experience in drafting and revising texts and press releases on the time pressure;
  • Experience with publication work including use of outside agencies for design;
  • Interest in and good knowledge of the EU and environmental matters;
  • Competence with Word, Adobe tools, and web-based content management systems;
  • Knowledge of social media and databases would be an asset;
  • Flexibility (we expect and offer flexibility regarding work schedules);
  • Prepared and able to work in a dynamic working environment, sometimes under pressure.
