Job: Deputy Chief Executive

Victoria/Westminster, London

Salary c. £80,000

The organisation-

RenewableUK is the leading renewable energy trade organisation in the UK. Established in 1978 we now represent over 700 corporate members, mainly in the wind and marine energy industries.

We are primarily a lobbying organisation, promoting the deployment of wind, wave and tidal power to government, industry, the media and the public. We also act as a central point of information for our membership and present a full annual programme of conferences, exhibitions and other networking opportunities. We commission research to provide market based evidence to support our policy positioning and to supplement our responses to government consultations on behalf of our members, and generally act as the principal forum for the UK wind, wave and tidal sectors.

The role-

Following tremendous growth in the sector and the increasingly vigorous debate surrounding renewable energy, RenewableUK is creating the post of Deputy Chief Executive to help meet the challenges facing the industry head on.

As Deputy Chief Executive you will be a key member of the Senior Management Team providing leadership, strategic direction and resource management, as well as deputising for the Chief Executive. Your primary role will be to deliver an integrated strategy and coordinated approach to the policy development, lobbying and engagement activities of RenewableUK. In addition you will also oversee the commissioning of independent research into critical policy issues.

Supported by a team of 6 functional directors, you will inspire and lead a team of 25 passionate and dynamic policy and communications professionals, building upon your extensive experience and proven track record of running a strategic communications and/or policy department at a senior level. With strong people, project and financial management skills, you will be commercially and politically astute. From time to time you will represent RenewableUK and the sector on the external stage where your boardroom and platform confidence will be evident.
