Business Improvement Manager South Africa-Gauteng Province

BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT MANAGER

African Barrick Gold’s Johannesburg Office is looking to employ an experienced Business Improvement Manager. This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer and the incumbent will be responsible to coordinate the Business Improvement initiatives across all mine sites.

KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Reinforce our core value of continuous improvement by identifying and implementing cultural improvements across the mine sites
• Analysing the full business to identify and prioritise opportunities for improvement
• Coordinate Business Improvement initiatives and projects across the mine sites
• Execute improvement initiatives to deliver positive value against the key business drivers
• Develop the continuous improvement culture through training, coaching and communication across the sites
• Ensure that specific, measurable and appropriate KPI’s are in place against which progress is regularly reviewed and monitored
• Engage the workforce in new ideas that will improve the business
• Business systems development, re-engineering and reporting of site wide systems and processes to ensure drivers of performance are identified and goals and objectives as outlined in the strategic plan are met
• Education in and development of business performance management systems and standards to ensure accuracy, control, comparability and transparency between actuals, budgets and various forecasts
• Educate management and staff improvement teams in the business analysis tools and techniques that will be used to realise improvement results, and support the effective deployment of these tools and techniques across the sites

PROFESSIONAL AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES

Education Requirements:
• Degree in a business-related or technical discipline
• A formal qualification in Business Improvement or systems development will be advantageous

Experience Requirements:
• Demonstrable achievement in a senior management role
• Demonstrated passion to develop a continuous improvement culture and lead business improvement initiatives within previous roles
• Passion and energy to engage in improvement activities at all levels
• Solid understanding and experience using continuous improvement techniques and methodologies or the ability to quickly learn these
• Have the ability to facilitate and lead change in all areas and levels of the business
• Sound interpersonal skills especially in the areas of communication and group facilitation
• Ability to coach site management and improvement teams as required in the use of the BI framework, strategy, tools and methodologies
• Ability to think “outside the box” and create an innovative environment
• Excellent communication, role-model presentation and software/system development skills
• Strong business acumen, change management, project management and facilitation skills
• Experience in a mining or heavy industry environment is highly desirable
