Reporting to a Senior Scientist, Gender Specialist, the successful candidate will be responsible for household surveys and data management under the Gender, Agriculture and Assets Project (GAAP) under the Cereal Systems Initiative in South Asia (CSISA). She/He will be in charge of data collection, data management, analysis and drafting of reports and other duties as requested by the Senior Scientist. She/he will provide research support to IRS and NARES collaborators in attaining the strategic goals of the Institute.
Major accountabilities/Responsibilities
• Coordinate the collection of information (qualitative and quantitative) using structured questionnaire and PRA tools with a team of enumerators
• Assist in the planning, design of socioeconomic surveys
• Conduct socioeconomic surveys
• Assist in interpreting results
• Draft reports
• Train and assist NARES collaborators
• Perform all other related tasks that may be assigned by IRS supervisor and NARES collaborators
Qualification requirements
• MS or advanced degree in Sociology
• 10 years experience in research on gender issues in agriculture
• Proficient in oral and written English communication skills
• Computer proficiency in the use of software packages such as Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SPSS for Windows
