Assistant Scientist - Agronomy

The successful candidate shall coordinate with the CSISA hub staff and national partners for the planning, conduct, and data analysis from the nutrient and crop management trials across hubs under the USAID-funded "Expansion of CSISA Bangladesh" project; serve as a contact person with IRRI HQ in the flow of information required in the development, verification, and upgrading of decision tools and promotional materials; and serve as a technical resource person for Nutrient Manager and Crop Manager decision tools. The position will be based in one of the CSISA hub office in Southern Bangladesh and will involve frequent travel to the project sites.

Major accountabilities/Responsibilities
• Serve as a main contact with CSISA hub staff and partners across hubs and sites in the planning, conduct, and data collection for adaptive research and verification trials on nutrient and crop management
• Coordinate, obtain, organize, compile, and analyze all data from field trails and demonstrations from CSISA staff and partners from all hubs, and write reports and papers appropriate for a wide range of audiences
• Serve as main contact person with staff at IRRI HQ in the exchange of technical information and research results required for the development and upgrading of decision tools on nutrient and crop management for rice-based cropping systems
• Assist appropriate persons in Bangladesh and IRRI HQ in the development of training and promotional materials for decision tools and coordinate with partners on their pre-testing and adaptation to local conditions
• Assist in organizing trainings and serve as a resource person

Qualification requirements
• MS in Soil Science, Agronomy, or related field
• At least 7 years of relevant practical work experience with some publications
• Excellent knowledge of data management and proficiency in the use of MS Excel and SPSS; excellent knowledge of soil, nutrient, and crop management
• Good oral and written communication skills in English
