Assistant Community Services Officer UNHCR

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assesses the general social conditions of refugees and their needs for social service, such as medical assistance, financial assistance,
• counselling and, in particular, assistance to vulnerable cases; provides individual counselling to refugees needing such assistance;
• Undertakes, research and assessment of community resources for planning and implementation of assistance particularly in medical services, education and self-help activities sector;
• Ensures that proper coordination is maintained with officials of relevant institutions involved in planning and implementation of assistance to individual refugees;
• Assists the refugee community to identify its own needs, to establish priorities and to meet these needs through developing self-help groups;
• Assists in the formulation of project proposals based on the results of evaluations carried out;
• Prepares correspondence, reports and statistics as required;
• May be required to supervise and coordinate the work of lower level staff;
• Undertakes other duties as required

Minimum Requirement

• Candidates should have University degree in Social Sciences, preferably Social Work but alternatively in Sociology or Anthropology.
• They should also possess strong communication and writing skills, have good knowledge
of computer applications and commitment to humanitarian issues.
• Minimum 6 years of relevant job experiences in related field
• Fluency in both English And Swahili
