Abcam, a successful and growing bioscience company, is a web-based business specialising in the production and sale of antibodies and related products to scientific research organisations. Our head office is based in Cambridge, UK and we have offices in Cambridge, USA, San Francisco, USA, Tokyo, Japan and Hong Kong.

Abcam's development team build complex web-based business applications using a variety of programming techniques and concepts including Ajax, web services, frameworks (MVC), DSDM/SCRUM (agile project management) and OOP. Code is written in .NET(C# MVC), SQL and Coldfusion. Our web infrastructure includes clustered web servers, redundant databases and load balancers - all at the hub of a global content delivery network. The bespoke Abcam intranet is used every hour of the day by our five worldwide offices with new functionality added daily to adapt to changing business needs.

We are looking for a programmer with one to two years of commercial experience to join the Application Development Team. In the role you will work on your own or in a dedicated team of developers working to deliver a suite of bespoke information systems to support Abcam's development and growth.

This is an excellent opportunity to work in a proactive environment with great opportunities for knowledge and skills development. Prior experience with .NET(C#), SQL, HTML, JavaScript, CSS and one of: Coldfusion /Java/C++//PHP is required. You will interact closely with colleagues from other departments and is therefore essential that you communicate effectively and understand project management techniques (such as Agile/DSDM/SCRUM).

Consideration will be given to graduates from a computing, science or math background who can demonstrate their aptitude in programming and the areas outlined above.
