Founded in 1997 by H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammad Al-Qassimi, Ruler of Sharjah and Member of the Supreme Council of the United Arab Emirates, American University of Sharjah is a comprehensive, independent, non-profit coeducational university based on American models of higher education. A highly selective university, AUS provides access to highly motivated students from all countries and has established academic standards comparable to those found at the best universities around the world.
