The HEA is a national body for enhancing learning and teaching in higher education in the UK. We work with institutions across the higher education system to help bring about change in learning and teaching to improve the outcomes for students. We do this by recognising and rewarding excellent teaching, bringing together people and resources and share best practice and by helping influence, shape and implement policy.

The HEA supports staff in higher education throughout their career from those who are new to teaching through to senior management. We offer services in 28 disciplines throughout the UK and have offices in England, Wales and Scotland. Through the partnership management team we work directly with institutions to understand individual circumstances and priorities and bring together resources to meet them.

This role will work closely with the Academic or Discipline Lead (Arts and Humanities) and other team members and will provide specific academic input and programme coordination to ensure services and other aspects of the HEA's work are successfully delivered.

The Academic Development Officer will deal primarily with the development of the work of the HEA on consultancy and change.

This work may, from time to time, include organisation of workshops, delivery of sessions at workshops, development of learning and teaching resources, editing of resources produced by others, cataloguing resources and making them available on the HEA website. Working across the HEA, the Academic Development Officer will promote cross-disciplinary activities with other Academic Development Officers from other Academic and Subject Teams on cross-cutting themes such as Internationalisation, Assessment etc, whilst promoting and marketing services.

Experience of teaching in higher education is essential, coupled with experience of developing networks and managing productive relationships, providing information, advice and guidance to individuals and groups and ensuring appropriate signposting. Proven experience of presenting information and data in formats for a range of audiences, including report writing skills is essential.
